About the event
The Galveston County Suicide Prevention Coalition (GCSPC) aims to increase communication, coordination, and
collaboration efforts in Galveston County to prevent suicide and bring hope and support to those affected by suicide. We bring organizations together with the end goal of enhancing the overall success of our collective suicide prevention efforts. These efforts include increasing awareness of available support and resources, promoting suicide prevention education and training, identifying unique community needs and working toward solutions.
Our monthly Coalition member meetings are to keep one another connected and informed of local resources, upcoming trainings and events, and opportunities for suicide prevention engagement in our region. Generally our meetings start with a brief presentation by a local resource representative, then end with general announcements, project or resource updates, and discussion.
You must register to be a member of the Coalition to attend Coalition meetings. Membership does not require any specialty or professional experience. If you are interested in becoming a member, please complete the form on our website, or by clicking the "Join Coalition" button on the top right. If you are already a member, please request your invitation to the meeting by clicking "Register" below.
We look forward to you joining us!
Please know that the focus of this coalition involves suicide, suicide prevention, and other topics that may be difficult for some members. If the conversation becomes too much, please feel free to step away or reach out for support. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available at 800-273-8255 or you may text “Hello” to 741741. If you or someone you know is in immediate risk, call 9-1-1.
While discussion at Coalition meetings is encouraged, please be mindful that this platform is not confidential or
HIPAA compliant. There are both clinical and non-clinical professionals, community members, survivors, allies, and family present. If you need to request resources or support for an individual or family, we ask that you please do so generally and avoid sharing any information that would identify this person(s) publicly to those present.
